Faith – GOD’S GPS!

Although GPS was invented by the U.S. for military purposes, in 1990 Mazda installed it in cars. And as they say, the rest is history. Now GPS trackers are imbedded in phones, watches and all five of the items listed above.

Small tags attach to luggage, purses or anything else you wish to track. Believe it or not, you can buy shoes with a built in GPS tracker.  It sounds very “Get Smart,” doesn’t it?

GPS in golf balls track their distance, speed and launch angle.  Opps! Lost a ball? It will help you find it.

Did your dog escape from your yard?  With a GPS tracker affixed to your dog’s collar, no worries. Check the tracker and presto, find your dog! How about finding the kid skipping school?  GPS trackers imbedded in school uniforms will rat them out.

GOD’S GPS!

We may not be escaping from the yard or skipping school, but we often use GPS to reach our destinations. With a little input from us and satellite assistance, GPS maps out a plan to get us there.  God has a GPS system, too.  It’s His plan. Let’s call it God’s Plan Succeeds! It succeeds because by following it, we succeed in fulfilling God’s plan for our lives.

“For I know the plans I have for you,”
declares the Lord,
“Plans to prosper you and not to harm you,
plans to give you hope and a future.”
 Jeremiah 29:11 NIV

BLOCKED SIGNAL!

Has your car’s GPS shut down in the middle of navigating? Mountains, tall buildings and dense forest are all obstacles which can block satellite signals. Even storms can interfere with tracking.

With God no satellite is required! Whatever stormy problems or obstacles block our path, His signal comes through. God can remove the obstacles, (even sheep).

Just look at the Israelites! Running from the Egyptian armies, their escape was blocked by the Red Sea.  God’s GPS had led them there so He must have a plan. Even in the midst of the chaos, Moses receives God’s signal and follows God’s plan. God removes the obstacle of the Red Sea and guides them to safety.  God’s Plan Succeeds!

Moses stretched his arm over the sea,
The Lord sent a strong east wind that blew all night
until there was dry land where the water had been.
 The sea opened up,
and the Israelites walked through on dry land with a wall of water on each side,
Exodus 14:21-22 CEV

RECALCULATING!

Isn’t it annoying when the GPS continually barks, RECALCULATING just because we ignored it? God is more patient than our car’s GPS.  He doesn’t bark recalculating or hound us when we take a wrong turn. His Holy Spirit will gently nudge us back towards the right direction waiting for us to make a course correction.

But be careful, if we are rebellious, God allows us to fall into whatever pitfalls lay in our path.  Nevertheless, He is there waiting to rescue us when we ask.

Take Jonah.

Jonah defiantly hopped a boat to avoid God’s plan to go to Nineveh.  In the middle of the ocean, the boat’s crew threw Jonah over board. No worries. God was watching and had already called an uber to rescue him; a whale! After three days in the whale’s belly Jonah had a change of heart.

From inside the fish Jonah prayed to the Lord his God.  He said:
“In my distress I called to the Lord,
and he answered me.”

 Jonah 2:1-2a NIV

God’s Plan Succeeds as His uber navigated to land putting Jonah back on course.
His plan succeeds for us too.

LOST?

When the car’s GPS doesn’t recognize a road, the next thing we know, we are lost!

We are never lost with God’s GPS. God sees us, understands us, knows where we are and how we feel 24/7. If we feel lost in life, God’s son, Jesus, is there reaching out to us in love. Jesus will be our constant companion even throughout eternity.

For God so loved the world
that He gave his one and only Son,
that whoever believes in Him shall not perish
but have eternal life,
 John 3:16 NIV

Because God’s Plan Succeeds, His Holy Spirit will lead us where to go and what to do, (John 14:26).

Your ears shall hear a word behind you, saying,
“This is the way, walk in it,”
Whenever you turn to the right hand
Or whenever you turn to the left,
 Isaiah 30:21

If we can have faith in GPS technology, can’t we have greater faith in our living, loving God’s GPS?  God’s Plan Succeeds in guiding us in His perfect plan and leading us to His perfect destination at His perfect time.

REFLECTION

Are you following God’s Plan?

PRAYER

Heavenly Father, as I write Jeremaiah 29:11 and say it aloud, help me to hear Your Holy Spirit. Give me courage and faith to always follow Your GPS. In Jesus name, Amen.

IN FAITH, FOLLOW GOD’S GPS
