Walking down a hallway of identical doors, Paul pointed to his father’s name, “Here’s dad’s door.” Jiggling the keys in his hand he asked, “Do you know which key it is?” Shrugging her shoulders, Susan responded, “Your guess is as good as mine.” Paul sighed shaking his head, “I wish dad had labeled all these keys. Paul tried key after key until finally the lock released.
Can you find the right key? Not your house key or your desk key. I mean the key to unlock all Jesus has for us.
BEFORE WE FIND THE RIGHT KEY,
WE HAVE TO FIND
THE RIGHT DOOR.
Like Paul could find the right door for his father by his name, we can find the right door by a name; the name of Jesus.
I, (Jesus), am the door.
If anyone enters by Me, he will be saved,
John 10:9a
WHICH KEY OPENS THE DOOR?
Fortunately, we don’t have to guess which key opens the door.
The only key to open it is clearly marked faith.1
WILL THE KEY OPEN OTHER DOORS?
Yes! Imagine if we open Jesus’ door, enter in and see many other doors. How would we open them? The key of faith that opened Jesus’ door will also unlock doors for us to enter into more joy, peace, victory, and so forth.
When we use our key of faith, our loving Lord can make a problem disappear; replacing sickness with health or exchanging depression for joy. But what about times when our problems remain for a season?
Although Jesus doesn’t create a problem, perhaps He allows us to experience them in order to change our heart or prepare us for the future. Because He loves us, He won’t leave us alone. Our key of faith will open the door to His direction and peace so that through Him we can overcome anything.
For whatever is born of God overcomes the world.
And this is the victory that has overcome the world
—our faith,
1 John 5:4
WHAT IF MY KEY ISN’T WORKING?
Whether our key is large or as small as a mustard seed, don’t worry, they can all be repaired. If our key becomes coated with the dirt and grime of doubt, we just need to apply a little polish.
WASHING OUR KEY
IN THE WORD OF GOD
REMOVES THE DIRT AND GRIME OF DOUBT.
That He might sanctify and cleanse her
with the washing of water
by the word,
Ephesians 5:26
WE FINISH REMOVING ANY SPOTS BY POLISHING WITH PRAYER.
Let’s wash and polish our keys so we can overcome!
DO YOU NEED HEALING?
Have you heard about the women who had a flow of blood for 12 years? Physicians didn’t help, she was broke and her health was worse. After all those years I imagine her key was a little grimy. But she washed it up and used it risking stoning by pushing through the crowd to get to Jesus. All the while believing,
“If only I may touch His clothes, I shall be made well.”
And immediately upon touching Jesus, she was.
(Mark 5:25-33).
DO YOU NEED PROVISION?
Our key of faith can unlock provision in improbable ways!
- Moses used his key to hit the rock that provided the Israelites drinking water, Exodus 17:5.
- Peter used his key to go fishing to receive money to pay taxes, Matthew 17:24-26.
- The disciples used their keys to be obedient to serve 5 loaves and 2 measly fish to feed 5,000 hungry men plus women and children. They even had leftovers! Matthew 14:17-21
And my God shall supply all your need
according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus,
Philippians 4:19
DO YOU HAVE A DIFFICULT BOSS?
King Nebuchadnezzar decreed everyone had to bow to his gods. I would say his inflexibility made him a pretty difficult boss. Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego used their keys to refuse his decree. Did they get fired? No, instead they were thrown into a fiery furnace!
As a result of their faith, the Lord stayed with them in the fire and did the impossible. They were unharmed, the King changed his decree and they still had jobs!
The hair of their head was not singed
nor were their garments affected,
and the smell of fire was not on them.
(Daniel 3:19-29)
The list goes on and on of examples of people using their keys of faith!
HAVE YOU LOST YOUR KEY?
Don’t worry Jesus is the finder of all lost things. Just knock and ask Jesus for help.
Ask, and it will be given to you;
seek, and you will find; knock,
and it will be opened to you,
Matthew 7:7
Through Jesus, anything is possible when we use our key of faith.
For with God nothing will be impossible.
Luke 1:37
REFLECTION
How can you use your key?
PRAYER
Heavenly Father, as I write 1 John 5:4 and say it aloud, strengthen my faith to use my key. In Jesus name. Amen.
OUR KEY OF FAITH OPENS DOORS
TO THE IMPOSSIBLE
