Faith – WE ARE IMPORTANT!

Did you know that the scriptures talk about our hair? It may seem like an odd topic for faith, but it does relate!  Keep reading to learn how and take the hair quiz!

Did you guess that you have more strands of hair than your friends? Check out the quiz answers to find out!

Do blonds have more fun because they have more hair? Blonds boast approximately 120,000-150,000 strands of hair, while other colors have 100,000-120,000 strands. 1 Sorry folks, dying your hair won’t increase your strands. Thick hair only applies to the 2% of natural blonds in the world.

Well men, if you’re hoping to save your hair, you might want to consider moving to Indonesia. Although 26.96% of men go bald there, it’s better than Spain, Croatia or USA where over 40% of the males go bald. 2

We generally shed between 50 to 150 hairs daily.3   Don’t worry, shedding allows new hair to grow. So out with the old and in with the new!

WHO COUNTS HAIRS?

Have you ever counted the number of hairs on your head?  What about someone you love?  Unless they are a new born, I doubt we have counted the hairs on their head either.

Although someone had to do all the counting to get the statistics for the quiz, they only used a sample of the population.  But we aren’t samples. We are individuals.

Who can keep up with the number of hairs we shed daily? The only one who knows our constantly changing number of hairs is God.

It may take Him a little longer to count blond strands, but whether thick hair or thin, God knows the number of our hairs. All those hairs on our brush or traveling down the drain, He accounts for them all.

THERE’S LOVE IN THE DETAILS!

Unless you involuntarily lose your hair, the number of hairs on our heads may not be important to us. However, they are always important and known by God.  Such an inconsequential thing shows that even the smallest detail of our lives is important to God.

Are not five sparrows sold for two pennies?
And not one of them is forgotten before God.
Why, even the hairs of your head are all numbered.
Fear not; you are of more value than many sparrows.
Luke 12:6-7 ESV

Why are the smallest details in our lives important to God?
Because of His great love for us.

But God, who is rich in mercy,
because of His great love with which He loved us,
Ephesians 2:4

Have you ever thought that something was too insignificant to bring to the Lord?  If so, think again.

You may not have counted the hairs on your loved one’s head, but aren’t the details of their lives important to you? Aren’t their decisions, big or small, important to you?  How about their aches and pains, even minor ones?  Because we love them, everything about them is important to us. Because God loves us, we can have faith that everything about us is important to God.

You comprehend my path and my lying down,
And are acquainted with all my ways.

Psalm 139:3

SHEDDING!

Like we shed hair to make room for new growth, we can shed our cares to make room for growing our faith.
Our anxiety, hurts, failures and difficult situations can make us doubt Jesus’ ability to work all things to good, (Romans 8:28). Shedding those cares makes room for believing in faith that Jesus can and will do the impossible for us, (Luke 1:37).

Jesus wants us to cast all our cares upon Him, even the small ones, because He cares for us.

Casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you,
1 Peter 5:7

SO, LET’S PRAY IN FAITH
KNOWING THAT NOTHING IN OUR LIVES
IS TOO SMALL TO BRING
TO GOD WHO LOVES US ALL.

REFLECTION

Is there something you feel is too insignificant to give to Jesus?

PRAYER

Heavenly Father, as I write Luke 12:6-7 and say it aloud, remind me that Your love for me is so great that You care about even the small details of my life.  Help me to shed my cares into Your hands and replace them with faith. In Jesus name. Amen.

BY FAITH
GIVE EVEN THE SMALL THINGS
TO JESUS
