Solve the 3 clues to help find the buried treasure! Join the boys on their adventure!
“Oww! What’s that?” questioned Jack turning to see what he stepped on. “Hey. It looks like a box,” declared Perry. “Let’s dig it up!” excitedly they chorused. Plopping onto the ground, they quickly dug out a metal box. With wide eyed wonder Jack opened it. “It’s a note,” he whispered in awe. “Read it! Read it!” shouted Perry squirming in anticipation. Together they read,
“50 paces from lizard’s rock, find the clue in the dark. Love will show the way.”
“Hidden treasure! Come on!” exclaimed Jack grabbing Perry. They eagerly ran to lizard’s rock and began, “1, 2, 3, 4 ……48, 49 ,50!” “Now what?” questioned Perry looking around.
CAN YOU HELP THE BOYS FIND THE TREASURE?
Which of these places would you look for the clue?
Perry shined the light into the dark hollow of the tree. Reaching in, he pulled out a sack. Did Perry find the sack in tree #1 or tree #2? “Love showed the way” by the heart on tree #2. Holding tightly to the 2nd clue Perry read,
“An elephant stands 100 paces to the North.
His tusks will point the way. Dare to dig while I watch?”
Which one of these is the elephant the clue refers to?
After finding the elephant, the boys followed the tusks pointing outwards in the 1st picture. It led them to the place where someone would watch them dig.
Where did the boys dare to dig for the treasure?
Perry and Jack dug by tree # 2. Did they find anything? Keep reading to see if they, and you, made the right choice!
But before I reveal if they found the treasure, let’s try another treasure hunt.
This one is a little different, but the treasure is greater than anything the boys may have found.
ARE YOU READY?
WE NEED 3 THINGS.
1. A MAP
How can you find the path to the treasure without a map? Can you guess what our map is? Our map is God’s Word.
For whatever was written before was written for our instruction, so that through patience and the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope. Romans 15:4 TLV
2. A LIGHT
Good thing that the boys had a light! How else could they illuminate the dark hollow to find the instructions for the path to take? Do you sometimes need a little light on your path? God didn’t leave us in the dark! God’s Word not only instructs, but illuminates our darkness so we can see the path to take.
Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path. Psalm 119:105
3. FAITH
Why did the boys diligently tromp through the woods searching for hidden treasure? Because they had faith they would be rewarded with the treasure!
When in faith, we diligently search for the hidden treasures in God’s Word, we will be rewarded with treasure too.
My son, if you receive my words, and treasure my commands within you,
So that you incline your ear to wisdom, and apply your heart to understanding;
Yes, if you cry out for discernment,
And lift up your voice for understanding,
If you seek her as silver, and search for her as for hidden treasures; Then you will understand the fear of the Lord, and find the knowledge of God. Proverbs 2:1-5
WAIT! THERE IS MORE TREASURE!
JOY!
Laughing and joking along the way, the boys found great joy on their treasure hunt. We will too.
I rejoice at Your word as one who finds great treasure. Psalm 119:162
HAPPINESS! LONG LIFE! PEACE!
Happy is the man who finds wisdom and the man who gains understanding.
For her trade-value is better than silver, and her yield better than fine gold.
She is more precious than jewels and nothing you desire compares to her. Length of days is in her right hand. In her left hand are riches and honor. Her ways are pleasant ways, and all of her paths are shalom. (peace). Proverbs 3:13-17 TLV
LOST TREASURE?
The treasure was no longer lost! Jack and Perry picked the right spot to dig! What treasure did they dig up? I will leave that to your imagination.
Whatever they found, the boy’s true treasure was the deeper friendship they developed on their quest. On our quest, the true treasure is the deeper relationship we develop with the Lord.
The Lord’s treasure will never be lost. If we seek it, He promises we will find it. His love will show us the way.
Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you.
For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened.
Matthew 7:7-8
REFLECTION
What treasure are you looking for?
PRAYER
Heavenly Father, as I write Psalm 119:162 and say it aloud, give me the desire to dig into Your word. Each time I search, grow my faith, deepen my relationship with You and reward me with the treasures promised in Your Word. In Jesus name, Amen.
