Identify which photos have a moth in them.
Nocturnal moths rest during the day making themselves vulnerable to predators. Their protection lies in invisibly blending with tree bark, plants and leaves or in mimicking other animals or insects. Which photos have moths in them? All four!
If you try to pluck this leaf off the branch, it will fly away. This Dead Leaf Moth is part of a category of moths which are brown with leaf-like veins and irregular shaped wings.
Did you find the Buff-tip Moth? It resembles the tree branch it’s sitting upon! You won’t find it in the U.S., but if you are ever in Europe or Asia, look closely, you may see it.
Even blending into the leaves, you probably found the Antheraea Polyphemus. Look at those large spots! Their resemblance to owl eyes confuses predators. Found in North America they have an average wingspan of 6”.
Is it a wasp or a moth? Although it resembles a wasp, it is the Strawberry Crown Moth so named because it lays it eggs at the base of strawberry plants.
HAVE YOU EVER FELT INVISIBLE?
There are times when we all feel invisible. Sometimes our invisibility is a defense system against rejection or for safety like the moths. Other times, we don’t wish to be invisible, but feel that we are.
Have you ever been picked last for every team? Had a time when dates were few and far between? Felt unnoticed by someone important to you? Do you feel rejected, excluded or alone?
HE SEES YOU!
When we have felt alone and invisible, we never were. Someone has seen us throughout our entire life.
Did you find the Fragile Dagger Moth? Also found in North America, this tiny moth blends invisibly into tree bark.
God created over 160,000 moth species ranging from the beautifully colored Sunset Moth to the Bird Dropping Moth which, yes, looks like bird poop. Like He knows each of them by name, He created and knows each of us including you. Before your mother realized she was pregnant, you were seen by God. The Lord knit you together and planned your life.
For You created my inmost being;
You knit me together in my mother’s womb.
Your eyes saw my unformed body;
all the days ordained for me were written in Your book
before one of them came to be,
Psalm 139:13,16 NIV
The Lord saw King David and planned his life too. You may be thinking, of course He did, David was a king. But before David was king, he was once invisible.
Under the guise of making a sacrifice, the Lord sent Samuel to select a king from Jesse’s sons. Inviting Jesse and his sons to accompany him, Jesse brought all seven sons except David.
To his father, David was the invisible son who was not important enough to go with them. However, the Lord knew David and the plans He had for him. Prompting Samuel to inquire about other sons, David was presented. David was seen by the Lord. (1 Samuel 16:6-13)
So, he sent and brought him, (David), in.
Now he was ruddy, with bright eyes, and good-looking.
And the Lord said, “Arise, anoint him; for this is the one!”
1 Samuel 16:12
ACCEPTED & LOVED!
Is this a hummingbird or a moth?
It’s the Hummingbird Hawk Moth which mimics its name’s sake. Have you acted like this moth mimicking someone else in order to be accepted?
Have you felt rejected when excluded from an event? How about the sting of rejection from other’s harsh actions and words? The Lord God Almighty has never rejected you. He accepted you just as you are. No matter who you are, how you look or what you have done He loves you and wants to be part of your life.
The Lord has appeared of old to me, saying:
“Yes, I have loved you with an everlasting love;
Therefore, with lovingkindness I have drawn you,”
Jeremiah 31:3
HE UNDERSTANDS!
The Lord understands that we all want to be part of the crowd.
Lord, You have searched me and known me.
You know my sitting down and my rising up;
You understand my thought afar off.
You comprehend my path and my lying down,
And are acquainted with all my ways,
Psalm 139:2-3
No matter how well you blend into your surroundings,
YOU ARE NEVER
INVISIBLE
TO THE LORD!
REFLECTION
Do you feel rejected, excluded or alone?
PRAYER
Heavenly Father, as I write Jeremiah 31:3 and say it aloud, fill me with Your loving presence. Grow my faith to understand and receive Your love, acceptance and the knowledge that You always see me. In Jesus name. Amen.
BY FAITH TRUST THAT THE LORD SEES YOU
