Faith – CAN YOU HEAR ME NOW?

Remember the old credit card slogan, “Don’t leave home without it”? That classic slogan could apply to our cell phones today. Even though we never leave home without them, they don’t always work, do they?

Whether our cell phones work or not, depends upon the tower coverage. Without a nearby tower, our calls don’t go through or a weak signal causes us to constantly ask, “Can you hear me now?”

Traveling to mountain tops, ocean depths or other locations can make it difficult to reach anyone. Our cell phones may not be able to reach a person everywhere, but we can always reach God.  His coverage encompasses all locations and His signal to send or receive is always strong. We never have to ask, “Can you hear me now?”

MOUNTAIN TOP SIGNAL?

The odds of having cell phone signals on a mountain top are slim. For example: Mt. Sinai is not the highest mountain in the world. However, it is no small hill. Reaching a height of 7,497 ft1, it like many other mountains has limited cell phone service.

On the day that Moses climbed Mt. Sinai there was no cell phone service. Or for that matter, there were no cell phones. Even so, God came in loud and clear as He communicated the 10 commandments to Moses. We always have a working signal to God even on a mountain top.

Where can I go from Your Spirit?
Or where can I flee from Your presence?
If I ascend into heaven, You are there;
If I make my bed in hell, behold, You are there,
Psalm 139: 7-8

OCEAN DEPTHS SIGNAL?

We may wish our cell phones had signals in the ocean, but it hasn’t happened yet.

Even so, our cell phones have some use. With a waterproof case, the camera function works. But watch the battery! It consumes power more quickly underwater. So, take photos before the battery dies or a shark gets your phone.

What about God’s signal?
Can the God who parted the Red Sea exposing the dry, sandy bottom for the Israelites not reach us there too?
Of course He can!

“Lord, was it not You who dried up the sea,
the waters of the great deep;
who made the depths of the sea a pathway for the redeemed to cross over?”
 Isaiah 51:10

God has an everlasting power that never dies. So don’t worry about the sharks. Even in the 9,974 ft. depth2 of the Red Sea, God has coverage and a strong signal that hears us and reaches us.

 If I take the wings of the morning,
And dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea,
 Even there Your hand shall lead me,
And Your right hand shall hold me,

Psalm 139:9-10

CAN YOU HEAR ME NOW?

IN A FIERY FURNACE?
YES!

Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego chose to defy the king and pray to God. Knowing they were to be bound and cast into a burning fiery furnace, they told the king “Our God whom we serve is able to deliver us.” The Lord heard their faith and was with them in the fire. When they emerged, it was as if they had never been in it. (Daniel 3:8-30)

And the satraps, administrators, governors,
and the king’s counselors gathered together,
and they saw these men on whose bodies the fire had no power;
the hair of their head was not singed
nor were their garments affected,
and the smell of fire was not on them,
Daniel 3:27

IN A PRISON CELL?
YES!

Paul & Silas were beaten and thrown into the inner prison with their feet fastened in the stocks. When by faith they sang praises to the Lord, He heard them and set them free physically and legally, (Acts 16:16-40).

Suddenly there was a great earthquake,
so that the foundations of the prison were shaken;
and immediately all the doors were opened
and everyone’s chains were loosed.
And when it was day, the magistrates sent the officers, saying,
 “Let those men go.” Acts 16:26,35

The Lord saved:
Jonah from the belly of a whale, (Jonah chapters 1 &2).
Daniel in the lion’s den, (Daniel 6:10-23).
David from the giant Goliath, (1 Samuel 17:31-51).
Disciples from a storm, (Mark 4:35-41).

The Lord heard all of them,
And protected them.

 Because of His great love,
 He wants to do the same for us.

When we call on the Lord, our faith may seem like a weak signal. But the strength of our signal doesn’t matter. We can have faith that with the Lord’s powerful signal and universal coverage, He is listening and we are never beyond His reach.

IF WE ASK,
 “LORD, CAN YOU HEAR ME NOW?”
 THE ANSWER WILL ALWAYS BE, YES!

Behold, the Lord’s hand is not shortened,
That it cannot save;
Nor His ear heavy,
That it cannot hear,
 Isaiah 59:1

REFLECTION

Do you believe the Lord can hear you?

PRAYER

Heavenly Father, as I write Isaiah 59:1 and say it aloud, grow my faith to believe that You hear me now and always.
In Jesus name. Amen.

IN FAITH BELIEVE GOD CAN HEAR YOU
