Did Albert Einstein imagine his theory of relativity would make GPS possible? Utilizing his theory, GPS was invented by a Miliary Science Team. Have you ever had a broken bone? You can thank Wilhelm Conrad Rontgen for illuminating the break. He developed X-rays in 1895.
You probably guessed Alexander Graham Bell as the inventor of the telephone. Although not the sole inventor, he was the first to receive a patent. Did you own a color TV in the 1960’s? Its’ color system was invented by Guillermo Gonzalez; however, it was 20 years before color TV was in our homes.
Building on the science engineered before him, who saved a lot of milk from spoiling? It was Fred Wolf inventor of the domestic refrigerator in 1913.
Each of these scientists relied on more than they could see to create their inventions. They relied on what they envisioned, even if it seemed impossible to create.
INVENTIONS & OUR FUTURE!
Inventions may make our life easier, but they may also cause uncertainty. How was the map maker impacted by the GPS? Did the refrigerator hurt ice business? Will our hopes for future plans, dreams and expectations fly out the window because of an invention?
We may not know our future, but there is someone who does; God. Rather than count on what our eyes see, our ears hear or even what are thoughts are yelling about our future, we can look to Him.
“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord,
“Plans to prosper you and not to harm you,
plans to give you hope and a future,”
Jeremiah 29:11 NIV
Rather than setting our expectations for the future on what we see, let’s have faith in God. Through our faith we will see God be God doing the great, marvelous, seemingly impossible things only He can do!
Even when a solution for our future looks impossible to us,
it is possible to the Lord!
For with God nothing will be impossible!
Luke 1:37
STILL STRUGGLING TO BELIEVE?
All of our minds may not be like an inventor easily envisioning the impossible. Most of us only believe in what we can see. But think about this, we already have faith in the performance of what we don’t understand. So, why not in what God can do?
Do you understand the complexities of the computer or smart phone? I certainly don’t! However, I have faith that they work and believe in the benefits they provide.
Thankfully, we don’t have to understand the complexities of God to receive all the benefits He lovingly wants to bestow on us. Just as we use human inventions by faith, we can believe in God and what He can do by faith.
We don’t have to envision the impossible. We just have faith that God can envision and create it for us.
Our God, who does the impossible wants us to abound in hope for our future.
Believe it!
Watch for it!
Expect it!
Let God be glorified!
Now may the God of hope
fill you with all joy and peace in believing,
that you may abound in hope
by the power of the Holy Spirit,

Our future may seem uncertain, but with God there’s hope as we rely on Him to sustain us, even when it seems impossible. Do you know what sustain means in Hebrew? It encompasses most everything; “to maintain, nourish, provide food, bear, hold up, protect, support, defend: to supply the means necessary for living.3
If God can sustain the universe, can’t He sustain us?
Cast your burden on the Lord,
And He shall sustain you;
He shall never permit the righteous to be moved,
Psalm 55:22
NO MATTER WHAT OUR FUTURE HOLDS,
HE HOLDS OUR FUTURE.
As we enter 2026, let’s walk in faith and trust that God is sovereign and holds the future even though we don’t know what the future holds.

Do you need hope for your future?
PRAYER
Heavenly Father as I write Jeremiah 29:11 and say it aloud, strengthen my faith that no matter what I see, You hold my future. Instill in me Your hope. In Jesus name. Amen.
